Craps

Craps is quite possibly the most exciting casino game around.  Not only is it fun but it is very easy to learn.  You can learn the basics of the game in no time.

This is how Craps is played:

The players take turns rolling two dice.  The player that is rolling the dice is called the shooter.  All of the players bet on the same roll no matter who the shooter is. The first roll of a new round is called the come-out roll.

Craps has over 40 different bets, but the most basic is the pass line bet.  A passline bet is the simplest bet that you can make at the craps table.  Believe it or not, the passline bet is enough to get you started in playing craps.

On the come-out roll, the pass line bettors win when either a 7 or 11 is rolled.  A 2, 3, or 12 loses, and is called craps. When any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) is rolled it is called the point. Once the point has been set, the pass-line bettor wins if the point is rolled again, and loses if a 7 is rolled first.

Once the point is established the bettor can make an additional bet behind the passline bet. This is known as the Odds Bet. It is the only bet in the casino that does not have a house edge as it is paid off with true odds.

Most casinos offer double odds, which mean you can make a bet twice the size of your pass line bet. If your passline bet is $10 you are allowed to make an odds bet of $20.

The odds bet are paid as following:
If the point is 4 or 10 it pays 2 to 1.
If the point is 5 or 9 it pays 3 to 2.
If the point is 6 or 8 it pays 6 to 5.

The opposite of a pass line bet is the don't pass bet, which wins on a come-out roll of 2 or 3, loses on 7 or 11, ties on 12, and goes to the point round when any other number is rolled.  In the point round the don't pass bet wins if a 7 is rolled and loses if the point is rolled.
